First may I say welcome and thanks for your interest in our site. It's undergoing some changes currently, and we hope your experience here is an enlightening one.

I (RichRumble) started this site to do a few things. One was to improve my HTML and Jscript, and two was to create a site that I wished was around when I started to do IT administration.

There are a hundred security sites and firms out there, and they are all very well and good. However there are problems that are not addressed with regard to IT/Network Admin tasks, these problems and situations are what we aim to address and offer help with; from our experience's and espically past failures. I started this site to bring some humanity and thought into the solutions to IT/Network security.

Security is a process, not a product

Bruce Schneier said the above phrase, and it's stuck with me for some time. That and K.I.S.S (keep it simple stupid) are good motto's for Admin's to remember. You cannot secure your WAN/LAN overnight or even in a weeks time, and certainly not by using one product or manufacturer. If you do, let us know about it! Security takes time and planing, and then you have to implement it, and after that you have to monitor it... whew. Then after monitoring it you have to follow up on your findings. If you don't have any findings, nothing seems out of place or there are no alerts, look harder, or elsewhere. Electronic's aren't the only security risk's your faced with, they are a major part, and that's mostly what you'll find here, but there are many angles to look at for security.
